Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU) has officially introduced its first-ever Matric Science (SSC – Science Group) program, which will be offered starting from the Spring 2026 semester. The initiative marks a major step toward expanding access to science education through Pakistan’s largest distance-learning institution.
According to the approved Scheme of Studies, the new Matric Science program has been carefully designed to provide students with a strong academic foundation in core science subjects while maintaining flexibility for learners who cannot attend regular schools.
Four-Semester Program Structure
The AIOU Matric Science Program (Program Code: 2003) is spread over four semesters with a total of 45 credit hours. It includes compulsory subjects along with key science disciplines such as Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, and Biology or Computer Science.
The program structure ensures that students receive education equivalent to traditional matric science streams while benefiting from AIOU’s open and distance learning model.
