The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK) government has officially launched the Solar Scheme 2026, aiming to provide clean and affordable electricity to more than 100,000 deserving families across the province. The initiative is part of the government’s broader strategy to reduce energy poverty, promote renewable energy, and support households affected by rising electricity costs.
Under the scheme, beneficiary families will receive 2-kilowatt solar systems, complete with inverters and essential equipment. Each system is valued between Rs 2.55 lakh and Rs 3 lakh, while the total project cost stands at approximately Rs 13 billion, fully funded by the KPK government. The program primarily targets underdeveloped and off-grid areas.
The solar scheme is being described as a major relief initiative for low-income households, offering both installment-based and fully free options to ensure inclusivity for the most vulnerable families.
