Lahore Introduces New Age Limit for Kite Flying

The Lahore district administration has introduced a new age limit for kite flying ahead of the Basant festival 2026, as part of enhanced safety and regulatory measures. The decision aims to reduce accidents, protect minors, and ensure responsible participation during the festival celebrations scheduled from February 6 to 8, 2026.

According to officials, the new age restriction will be enforced alongside existing safety rules, including the approval of only cotton-based kite strings and a complete ban on sharp manja, metallic wire, chemical-coated strings, fireworks, and aerial firing. Authorities believe that limiting kite flying to responsible age groups will significantly reduce injuries and fatalities.
