Two-Day ‘Dekho Film’ Festival to Begin on January 14 at Lahore’s Alhamra

The Lahore Arts Council Alhamra, in collaboration with the Department of Film and Broadcasting, University of the Punjab, is set to host a two-day film festival titled “Dekho Film” starting January 14 and continuing through January 15 at Alhamra. The festival aims to highlight the evolving role of cinema as a medium of social, cultural, and intellectual expression in Pakistan.

Speaking about the event, Executive Director Lahore Arts Council Alhamra Muhammad Nawaz Gondal said that film has become a powerful tool for conveying impactful messages beyond entertainment. He noted that in the modern era, cinema plays a vital role in addressing societal issues, shaping cultural narratives, and encouraging critical thinking among audiences.

In addition to film screenings, the Dekho Film Festival will feature interactive talk sessions and training workshops, offering young filmmakers, students, and cinema enthusiasts opportunities for learning and dialogue. A diverse lineup of films based on meaningful themes has been curated to engage audiences and open new avenues of thought.

Gondal added that Alhamra is making full preparations to ensure the success of the festival and expressed hope that the event would serve as an important milestone in promoting Pakistani cinema, nurturing emerging talent, and encouraging creative expression in the country.
