PEF Announces No QAT for Grade 5 and Grade 8 Students

The Punjab Education Foundation (PEF) has officially announced that it will not conduct the Quality Assurance Test (QAT) for Grade 5 and Grade 8 students during the academic year 2025–26.

According to the notification issued by PEF, the decision applies to all partner schools operating under PEF programs. Instead of QAT, student learning outcomes and teaching quality will be assessed through the Punjab Education Curriculum & Teacher Assessment Authority (PECTAA) framework.

Focus Shifts to PECTAA Assessment

PEF officials stated that the move aims to reduce examination pressure on students and place greater emphasis on teaching effectiveness and curriculum-based learning. Under the PECTAA assessment system, both students’ academic performance and teachers’ instructional standards will be evaluated.

The new assessment approach is part of PEF’s broader effort to improve education quality, monitoring, and accountability across partner schools in Punjab.
