Punjab to Hold Class 8 Board Exams Again in March 2026 After Four-Year Gap

The Punjab government has announced that Class 8 annual board examinations will be conducted in March 2026, marking their return after a four-year gap. The decision aims to restore a standardized assessment system at the middle-school level across the province.

Provincial Education Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat Khan confirmed that the Punjab Education, Curriculum, Training and Assessment Authority (P-ECTA) has finalized the examination schedule. According to the plan, Class 8 exams will begin from March 5, 2026.

Class 8 board exams had been suspended for several years as part of earlier assessment reforms. Their reintroduction reflects the government’s renewed focus on structured evaluation and accountability in schools.

Education authorities say the exams will help better prepare students for secondary-level education and identify learning gaps at an earlier stage.
