Govt to Recognise Teaching Experience in Pay Scales Under New Policy

The government has announced a major education policy reform, under which teaching experience will now be officially recognized in pay scale placement. According to the new decision, teachers with verified experience will be appointed in appropriate Basic Pay Scales (BPS) instead of being placed at the initial stage, bringing long-awaited relief to thousands of educators.

Under this policy, teachers possessing 12 years of teaching experience and meeting the required qualifications will be eligible for pay scale adjustment. The move aims to promote merit, improve teacher motivation, and enhance the overall quality of education.

As per details, the education department has clarified that experience gained in private schools will also be considered, provided it meets prescribed standards and verification requirements. This step is expected to reduce disparities between public and private sector educators and encourage professional growth.

Previously, experienced teachers were often inducted at lower scales despite years of service. The new policy ensures that experience, qualification, and professional competence are taken into account during appointments.
